Key Features of the Hessa Street Bridge

Spanning an impressive 1,000 meters, the two-lane bridge connects Hessa Street with Al Khail Road. The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) projects that this vital link will slash travel time between these two major thoroughfares from 15 minutes to just 3 minutes.

Such an improvement is expected to enhance the daily commute for thousands of residents and visitors.

This bridge is part of a broader development initiative, costing a staggering Dh689 billion, which aims to improve road infrastructure across Dubai.

A key aspect of this project includes upgrading four critical intersections on Hessa Street to seamlessly connect with Sheikh Zayed Road, First Al Khail Road, Al Asayel Street, and Al Khail Road.

Enhancing Capacity and Connectivity

Hessa Street is undergoing a major transformation with its expansion from two to four lanes in each direction. Once completed, the upgraded road will accommodate up to 16,000 vehicles per hour, doubling its previous capacity of 8,000 vehicles.

This expansion will cater to Duba rapidly growing population, particularly in high-demand areas such as Al Sufouh 2, Al Barsha, and Jumeirah Village Circle. The RTA estimates that by 2030, over 640,000 residents will benefit from this infrastructure upgrade.

Cycling and E-Scooter Tracks: A Step Toward Sustainable Transport

In addition to the bridge and road enhancements, the project includes the construction of a 13.5-kilometer cycling and e-scooter track. This track will link Al Sufouh to Dubai Hills via Hessa Street, promoting sustainable mobility options.

With a capacity to accommodate 5,200 users per hour, the track is expected to encourage eco-friendly commuting while supporting Dubai’s long-term sustainability goals.

RTA Director General Mattar Al Tayer emphasized the significance of the Hessa Street development. “This project is a cornerstone of Dubai’s comprehensive plan to enhance its road network and improve the quality of life for its residents.
