RTA Issues 1,200 Fines and Seizes 77 Delivery Motorcycles. In a determined effort to enhance road safety and regulate delivery services, Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has issued more than 1,200 fines following extensive inspections targeting delivery motorcycles across the emirate.
The operation also led to the impounding of 77 motorcycles for serious violations, reflecting the RTA unwavering commitment to public safety and operational compliance.
Key Violations and Penalties
The penalties were primarily issued for infractions such as unsafe driving, failure to wear mandatory protective gear, and operating motorcycles that failed to meet technical and safety standards. Among the seized vehicles, 44 motorcycles were impounded for being deemed unfit for the road or having expired insurance and registration.
An additional 33 electric bikes were confiscated for lacking proper operational permits from the relevant authorities.
“Violations such as reckless driving, neglecting to wear protective equipment—including helmets, gloves, reflective vests, and elbow and knee guards—and operating motorcycles without professional certification were among the most common offenses,” stated Saeed Al Ramsi, Director of Licensing Activities Monitoring at RTA Licensing Agency.
Comprehensive Inspection Campaign
The inspections spanned high-activity zones across Dubai, including Hessa Street, Za’abeel Street, Jumeirah Street, Downtown Dubai, Mirdif, and Motor City. A total of 11,000 checks were carried out, focusing on delivery drivers, vehicles, and operational facilities. These efforts aimed to ensure that delivery services operate in compliance with technical and safety standards.
In addition to enforcement actions, the RTA organized awareness workshops targeting over 3,600 delivery drivers. These sessions emphasized the importance of adhering to safety requirements and provided practical solutions to common challenges faced by delivery personnel.
Ensuring Safety Through Education and Regulation
The RTA safety campaigns reflect its broader vision of becoming a world leader in seamless and sustainable mobility. By blending enforcement with education, the authority seeks to create a safer environment for delivery drivers and other road users.
The workshops also served as a platform to address challenges delivery drivers face in their daily operations, including traffic congestion, time constraints, and safety risks. The RTA encouraged the adoption of safe driving practices and compliance with technical standards, aiming to improve overall efficiency and reduce accidents.
A Commitment to Sustainable Mobility
Dubai RTA remains steadfast in its mission to ensure safety and compliance on the emirate’s roads. Regular inspections, awareness campaigns, and updated guidelines play a crucial role in streamlining delivery operations.
Conclusion
As the demand for delivery services continues to grow in Dubai fast-paced urban landscape, the RTA’s initiatives underscore the importance of balancing efficiency with safety. Through proactive measures, the authority reinforces its commitment to the well-being of delivery drivers, other road users, and the broader community.
