Dubai RTA Reduces Fare for Bus-On-Demand Service to Just Dh2.  Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has taken a significant step to enhance public transport accessibility and affordability by reducing the fare for its innovative bus-on-demand service in Business Bay.

Starting December 20, passengers can enjoy this convenient service for just Dh2, down from the previous fare of Dh5.

Move Towards Better Connectivity

The fare reduction aligns with the RTA vision to improve urban mobility and reduce congestion in one of Dubai busiest commercial hubs. Speaking about the initiative, Adel Shakri, Director of Planning and Business Development at RTA Public Transport Agency, highlighted its potential to streamline traffic flow and improve connectivity within the Business Bay area.

“This initiative enhances traffic flow, contributing to smoother movement in this vital area,” Shakri explained, emphasizing the agency’s commitment to sustainable and user-friendly transport solutions.

Future Expansion Plans

Looking ahead, the RTA has ambitious plans to expand the bus-on-demand service to 10 key areas across Dubai by the end of the first half of 2025. To support this expansion, a fleet of 41 state-of-the-art buses will be deployed to serve the growing network.

According to Shakri, the service is expected to see increased adoption, particularly among public transport users seeking convenient first- and last-mile connectivity options.

How the Service Works

The Dubai Bus On-Demand app is the cornerstone of this innovative service. Passengers can book rides through the app, which connects selected areas with small, comfortable public buses. Users can personalize their journey by selecting routes from their starting point to their destination.

Payment is seamlessly integrated within the app, ensuring a hassle-free experience for commuters.

Bridging First- and Last-Mile Gaps

This service is part of RTA broader strategy to bridge the gap between residential areas and public transport stations. It provides a cost-effective solution for first- and last-mile connectivity, enabling residents to easily access the larger public transport network, including Dubai Metro and buses.
